PD Founder

Yona Belfort (03). As an experienced coldwater surfer and product designer, Yona sees an opportunity to design, build, and sell the world’s best coldwater gear in Maine. Yona oversees new product design, manufacturing, company strategy and operations. Yona holds a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from the University of Rochester and an M.S. in Product Design from Stanford.

Xtracycle traveled widely in its youth – from Managua, to Capetown, and back to Palo Alto. Xtracycle spent its formative years in the Sierra foothills, where trees are far more common than people. Here Xtracycle matured, steeped in a culture of self-sufficiency, creativity, and connection with nature.

In 2008, Xtracycle moved to Oakland, California, nestled between the city and the valley, the ocean and the hills, the urban and suburban.

Xtracycle is now headquartered in an Oakland neighborhood where bikes are about as common as cars, and just about anything can be had within a 10 minute bike ride. Just the way we like it.

PD Founder

Ross Evans (PD 99) invented the Xtracycle in 1997.  A versatile designer with experience in medical device design and toy creation, Ross’s lifelong passion for bikes and an ambition to make a difference led to the founding of Worldbike.org and Xtracycle Inc.
